Suzuki PowerPlugs
My 3d-printed PowerCombs have been a hit with chromatic harmonica players looking to get better reed response from their chroms -
because they really work (
read more on the theory behind that).
They fit most popular chromatics, but the owners of the more expensive Suzuki chromatics with brass-weighted combs could not have it both ways: they had to either stick with the weighted factory combs with their too-large inefficient reed chambers, or switch to a superior-shaped but much lighter Suzuki PowerComb.
Now I've got the perfect solution for them: PowerPlugs!

PowerPlugs are precisely designed 3d-printed inserts that fit in the top four reed chambers of ALL Suzuki ABS chromatic combs, including the GM48, GM48-W, Sirius and SCX chromatics. Here are their advantages:
- PowerPlugs offer the same efficient chamber reduction of PowerCombs for superior reed response in the critical top octave
- They are quick and easy to install, a simple press-fit (see the video)
- They allow Suzuki chrom owners to retain their factory-made comb, including the brass weights in the more expensive models

The Hohner CX-12, 64, Super 64 and Super 64-X are popular chromatic harmonicas, and rightly so: they have great reedplates and a good tone. But one area lets them all down: the too-large comb chambers of their ABS plastic injection-moulded combs, especially a problem for reed response in the top octave. Players of these nice Hohner chromatics had to either stick with the inefficient factory combs, or buy a superior-shaped but expensive PowerComb.
Now I've got the perfect solution for them: PowerPlugs!

" I recommend every Suzuki Harmonica player to check out Brendan's new PowerPlugs, they make a difference in playability in the top register of the Suzuki chromatics, especially to the top two holes. You might need to adjust your reeds and valves after installing them, to get the proper air pressure and reed response, but its really worth it and you harmonica will play even better. " Soooo. I just got these inserts from Brendan for my Sirius 56s, which my wife bought me as a surprise...(how cool is that?)
I'm here to report they work absolutely beautifully. Upper range is noticeably easier to play, even the upper D, which is notoriously stiff on a Suzuki.
It took around 5 minutes to install them, they were super snug, but popped right in. Now I guess I'll have to buy at least two more sets...

Plugs arrived few days ago. I've simply followed Brendans video how to install. I did make sure they are laying down properly, otherwise reed plate would rest on plugs instead of comb.

" I've just used the power plug on my Sirius 48 and the effect is very satisfactory! I have a question to ask. I find that I can place the SCX 48 A key reedplate to the Suzuki G48 harmonica. Can the same thing be done to the G48 if I put the power plug to the brass-weighted comb of G48? Thanks for your help and may I express my congratulation to your invention of power plug!
